A sectioned trunk laid out along the street for removal

Large Tree Removal Brisbane

Large removals are a different trade to backyard work. A mature gum over a house, a hoop pine between two roofs, an ironbark spanning power lines — these come down in sections, on ropes or on a crane, with the ground crew clearing as the climber works.

This is the work Caleb built the business on, and it is why the fleet includes a crane, spider lifts and traffic control rather than just a truck and a chipper.

How a large tree actually comes down

Nothing gets felled in one piece on a suburban block. A climber works the tree from the top down, taking limbs in pieces small enough to control, lowering each one on rigging rather than dropping it. Where the weight or the position makes rigging unsafe, a crane holds the section while it is cut and lifts it clear over the roof. The ground crew chips and loads as it comes, so the site never fills up.

What large jobs usually involve:

What drives the price

What a large removal is quoted on

Height matters less than people think. These are the things that actually change what a job costs.

  • What is underneath the tree

A tree with clear ground beneath it can be rigged down quickly. The same tree over a pool, a pergola or a neighbour’s roof has to be taken in far smaller pieces.

  • How close we can get the truck

If the chipper can sit beside the tree, the job moves fast. If everything has to be carried out through a side gate, it does not.

  • Whether a crane is needed

A crane costs money to bring in but often takes hours off the job and removes the risk entirely. On the right tree it is the cheaper option, not the dearer one.

  • Power lines and the street

Work near service lines needs clearances, and anything over the road needs traffic control. Both are arranged before the day, not on it.

  • What happens to the timber

Chipped on site, milled, left as firewood or taken away — it changes the load-out and it is worth telling us what you would prefer.

Why the gear matters on a large tree

The difference between a large removal that goes well and one that ends in an insurance claim is almost always equipment and planning rather than bravery. Rigging that can hold the weight, a lift that puts the climber where he needs to be, a crane when the piece is too heavy to lower — and a crew that has done it before. We are fully insured for public liability and WorkCover, which on a job this size is not a formality.

Questions

Large Tree Removal Brisbane — Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not one that would tell you anything useful. Online calculators price on height and species, and on a suburban block neither is what drives the cost — access, what sits under the tree and whether a crane is needed matter far more. That is why we quote large removals on site, for free, rather than giving you a number that changes when we arrive.

  • It varies enormously with access and rigging. Most residential jobs are a day; the biggest ones with a crane and traffic control can run longer. We will give you a realistic idea when we quote rather than an optimistic one.

  • Quite possibly. Larger and more significant trees are exactly what council vegetation protections are written for. Our council pages cover Brisbane City, Logan, Moreton Bay and Redland, and we will flag what we think applies when we look at the tree.

  • We take reasonable care and use boards and matting where the ground is soft, but a crane and a loader are heavy. If the lawn is a priority, tell us at the quote and we will plan the access around it.
