Pruning work we take on:

When to book
Most trees tell you well before they become a problem. If any of these sound like the tree in your yard, it is worth getting a look at it now rather than after a storm.
Branches over the roof or gutters
Limbs touching the house drop leaves into gutters, scrape tiles in wind, and give possums a bridge onto the roof.
Deadwood in the canopy
Bare, brittle limbs among the green growth. They are the first thing to come down in a storm and the easiest thing to take out safely.
A canopy that has got too heavy
Dense growth catches more wind and puts more load through the branch unions. Thinning it reduces that load without changing the shape of the tree.
Branches over the fence line
Growth into a neighbour’s yard is the most common reason people call us, and the easiest one to sort before it becomes a conversation.
Low limbs over the driveway or path
Anything you have to duck under, or that scrapes the roof of the car, can be lifted clear without touching the rest of the tree.
Palms with dead fronds hanging
Old fronds and seed pods come down hard and without warning. A palm clean takes them off in one visit.

Local and affordable

The most common request we get is to cut a tree back to gutter height. We understand why people ask, but topping a tree goes against the Australian Standard, causes long-term damage, and usually makes the tree more dangerous rather than less — the regrowth comes back weaker and attached to a wound. We prune to the standard instead: selective cuts at the right points that take the weight and the height out of the problem while leaving the tree structurally sound. In most cases it gets you the outcome you were after, and the tree is still there in ten years.
Questions
Pruning is selective — cuts are made at specific points so the tree heals properly and keeps its structure. Lopping or topping means cutting limbs back to stubs, usually to a set height. It leaves large wounds, forces weak regrowth, and tends to make the tree more hazardous over time. We prune to the Australian Standard and will talk you through what that means for your tree at the quote.
It depends on the size of the tree, how much access we have to it, and how much work the canopy needs. A single limb over a driveway and a full crown reduction on a mature gum are different jobs. We quote free and on the spot in most cases, so you know the number before anything starts.
It varies by species, age and position. A young tree being shaped needs attention more often than an established one that only needs deadwood taken out. We can set up a pruning schedule so your trees get seen at the right intervals rather than only when something goes wrong.
Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do. Where the tree is on your property we can prune to the boundary. Where the tree belongs to a neighbour it gets more involved, and there is a formal process in Queensland for resolving it. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in before any work is booked.
Sometimes. Some trees in Brisbane are protected, and the rules differ between councils. Pruning is generally treated differently to removal, but it is worth checking before you start. We can advise on your local regulations during the free quote visit.
Often, yes. Not every tree that looks like a problem needs to come out — a lot of what people want fixed can be solved by taking the right weight and height out of the canopy. If pruning will get you the outcome, we will tell you that. If the tree genuinely needs to go, we will tell you that too.
